At 5:00 am, here's what we know about two airplanes: Airplane #1 has an elevation of 33260 ft and is descending at the rate of 800 ft/min. Airplane #2 has an elevation of 1580 ft and is climbing at the rate of 300 ft/min.

For plane 1 E = 33260 - 800t. for plane 2 E = 1580 + 300t

Time for same elevation is determined by equating both E's and solving for t getting t = 36.2 m

Plugging t into either of the above to get an E = 4300 feet

E(t) = 33260 - 800*t

Airplane #2:

1580 + 300*t

33260 - 800t = 1580 + 300t

33260 - 1580 = 300t + 800t

31680 = 1100 t

t = 28.8
