Let x = # of boys
Let x+6 = # of girls
# of girls + # of boys = Total number in the class
(x+6) + x = 24
Now need to solve.
Combine like terms
2x + 6 = 24
Subtract 6 from both sides and simplify
2x + 6 - 6 = 24 - 6
2x = 18
Divide both sides by 2 and simplify
2x/2 = 18/2
x = 9
The number of boys in class is 9

Subtract 6 girls from total attendance 24, 24-6 = 18. Remaining attendance both boys and girls are equal = 18/2 = 9. So, boys were present 9 and Girls = 9 + 6 = 15 on Monday05/12/19
