Then, we must modify the second equation to get x = 4y by cross multiplication. Next, substitute 4y into the other equation such that
(4y) - y = 21...............Then add like terms such that
3y = 21...............Then divide 3 such that
y = 7
Now, we plug 7 into the first equation such that
x - 7 = 21...............Add 7 to both sides such that
x = 28
