Hi Seth,
To find the area of a parallelogram, you would multiply the base by the height. We often write this A=b×h.
You asked: "The area of the parallelogram is 105cm2. What is the base of the parallelogram?"
The base and height could be any factors of 105. Is it possible that this problem gave you the height and you forgot to include it here? There may also be a diagram where you can see a line indicating the height of the parallelogram.
If the height were 5 cm, then 105cm2 = b × 5cm.
We can solve for the base length by dividing 105 by 5.
105cm2 = b × 5cm
÷5 ÷5
21 cm = b
The base would be 21cm.
You will have to substitute the actual height to find the base length for your problem. Don't forget to include the units in your final answer.
