The first step is to isolate the y. Thus, I will add 1 to both sides. This gives me y = -4(x+2) +1.
Then, I will multiple the -4 times both times in the parenthesis. Thus, I get y = -4x-8+1.
Finally, I simplify like terms by adding the -8 and the 1. Thus, the final equation was y= -4x-7.
