It would be a noun clause. Even though you are omitting it, what you are actually saying is, "I want to visit <the place> where my grandmother was born." The best way to check is to identify the clause. If it has a subject, a verb, and can stand alone without any additional information, then it is a noun clause.
Adverbial clauses cannot stand alone. For example, "I am going now." The word, now, is an adverbial clause, because it modifies how I am going and cannot be used by itself.
