I owned an Art Production Studio for 20-years. Yes it can be done. However, it is never a good idea if it is not in a very well controlled environment. The reason? Paper is a great insulator. Metal, Ceramic - Glass are great energy absorbers. Notice how the house can get real hot inside. When it is only warm outside? Enery absorption. Because of this the image will be subject to extremes of moisture, cold, and heat. Guess what happens to the image. Yup, it gets ruined. You can semi-safely use thes materials but only if they are sealed properly. This will fix / protect the image from damage.
