Not sure of the process to which you refer, yet the minimum is -2/23 at x = 3/5 (This by first derivative).
Allan C.
asked 04/26/19Basically the question is (x2-2x-1)/ (x-4)2. It asks for which x value give the smallest result. I remember watching someone doing the question earlier today, but I can't remember how she did it. She first set the minimum value as m, and subbed it into the equation (I can't remember how) Then she used the discriminant and set it to 0 so there would be one minimum value. Then we got m = -2/7. Can someone explain this better to me or perhaps give me a better solution?
