Greetings! Lets solve this shall we ?
So, we must find the equation of a line passing through the given point (-2,5) which possesses the slope m = -4. Lets begin!
We must utilize the point-slope formula to create this line! The point-slope formula yields
y - y1 = m ( x - x1), where (x1,y1) = (-2,5) and m = -4. Lets plug everything in and solve for y ! Hence,
y - 5 = (-4)(x - (-2))
y - 5 = (-4)(x+2)...................Distribute the -4 inside to get
y - 5 = -4x - 8.................Now add 5 to both sides to get
y = -4x - 3
I hope this helped!
