sin-1 is used when you are trying to find the Angle that corresponds to a given Sine
sin( ) is used when you are trying to find the Sine of a given angle
sin(30°) = 1/2
sin-1(1/2) = 30°
sin-1(√3/2) = 60°
Degrees is usually the default mode on calculators but this should work for angles express in Radians too. Give it a try, if you have any questions send me a message.
