This question can be solved one of two ways and a matter of preference of the learner on which is easier.
Way 1:
Find the total area first: A = L x W
84 x 50 = 4200
then divide that total area in half which would be by 2 since half means 2 pieces.
4200 ÷ 2 = 2100
Half of the basketball court is 2100sqft.
Way 2:
Take the length of the basketball court and divide that in half first since its asking for the area of only half the court.
84 ÷ 2 = 42
then multiply the half length by the width to get the area of half the court.
42 x 50 = 2100
