Greetings! Lets solve this shall we ?
4 times a number increased by 7 and the result is the same as 8 times a number increased by 5. This translates into the equation
4x+7 = 8x+5
Now we can solve for the missing value!
4x+7 = 8x+5.................Subtract 4x to the other side
7 = 4x + 5...............Subtract 5 to the other side
2 = 4x..................Divide 4 to both sides
x = (2/4) = 1/2
I hope this helped!
