Kathrine, this is an example of
distance = rate * time
You have values for distance and rate (speed), so you need to solve for time.
divide both sides of the equals dign by rate
distance / rate = time
so put the numbers in for these names
3/4 mile / 1 1/4 miles per hour = time
Notice that the result will be a fraction of an hour. So convert it to minutes by multiplying by 60.
(60 * 3/4) / (1 1/4)
Fractions are tedious, I know, but 7th grade can handle them, I think. If not, ask another question.
