The answer to your question has more to do with what the end product of the photography is for. Computational (Digital) photography is easier to start-up than traditional photography, ie: one doesn't need to buy film, develop film, make prints via lab or home darkroom, etc. From a purely commercial view, digital would be the most efficient process that would render a faster product. From a purely artistic view, traditional photography and alternative processes can create a more visually and tactile interesting product.
