Hi Lily! The area formula for a circle is: pi times the radius squared. Since the diameter is given as 39, the radius is half that or 19.5. Square the radius of 19.5 (which is 380.25) and multiply it times pi (3.14 as given).
380.25 x 3.14 = 1193.985 rounded to the nearest foot (or whole number) is 1194 square feet.
