Thank you for posting your question.
The word Qur'an comes from the arabic word "Qaraa" which means to read,So the Qur'an is a noun from the verb qaraa . the Quran is a Holy Book that is revealed to the prophet Mohammed peace be upon him through which he was asked by Allah (God) to spread His word of peace and guidance that is known by Islam.
The first verse to be revealed to the prophet Mohammed peace be upon him in the Qur'an was ''Iqraa'' which means read , this was sent down by Allah as a command to His prophet Mohammed peace be upon him.
Thank you
Shakuntala S.
"Qaraa" doesn't quite morph into Quran. Maybe it's just named after "Puran" or the Puranas (plural) (Ved Puran), the ancieant Indian texts, especially since many parts of the quran are reminiscent of the Indian texts anyway.12/04/21

"Many parts of the Quran are reminiscent of the Indian texts anyway"...care to elaborate? On the basis of this you're actually suggesting the Qur'an is based on Hindu scriptures?01/22/22

All the divine massages are sourced from the creator let it be from any religion and therefore some similarities are obvious. Quran is actually the latest addition in the series of divine proclamations.03/20/22

"Iqraa" doesn't mean "Read" It means "Recite"04/02/21
