X^2 + 3 to see if this is either even, odd or neither

Do you add negatives to both x^2 and +3 or just to the x^2

Hi Mason,

To determine if a function, f(x), is even you want to see if f(x)=f(-x) if it is then it's even. Knowing the definition is key.

So our function is f(x)=x²+3 so to evaluate f(x) at x=-x we sub -x for x which is f(-x)=(-x)²+3 which is equal to x²+3 ( because (-x²)=(-x)*(-x)=x²) so f(x) is an even function.
