When you are told the the number of servings, S varies directly with the weight, W that meant that
S = kW i.e that S and W are linearly related andwe just have to figure out what k is. You were also told that
when W= 42 oz, S=30 so if we sub these values for S and W we can calculate k , 30=k*42 so k=30/42=.714 servings/oz
So now we have all we need to answer the question that was asked "how many servings does a 60 oz box contain?"
S=.714*60= 43 servings (approx)
