Is there a keyboard shortcut in Word for typing an arrow (symbol)?

You often see people using `->` as an arrow, but I hate how it looks. I always use the `→` symbol. However, I always have to `insert < symbol` to use this, which is annoying.Is there anyway (shortcut) to insert this symbol in Word (2013)?

You can select Symbol from the Insert menu. I like Wingdings 3 font and character 150 as an arrow.

To assign it to AutoCorrect, click on the AutoCorrect… button.

 

Assign the shortcut you want, like -> and click on Add.

Now as soon as you type -> in your document it will insert your arrow.

You can assign an Autocorrect value to the arrow.

For example: set -> to autocorrect to →

so you can type -> and word will replace it with → every time.

To do this:

-Go to the Insert Tab

-Click Symbol

-Find an arrow that you like

-Click AutoCorrect on the bottom and tell it what text to replace with this symbol

You can also assign a shortcut to a symbol from the same location.

example: Ctrl+Shift+R for right arrow, Ctrl+Shift+L for left arrow and so forth....
