let L = length

 

let w = width

 

Perimeter = 2L + 2W

 

 

L = 2w - 4      (4 less than twice the width

 

 

Perimeter=  484 = 2L + 2W

 

484 = 2(2w-4) + 2W

 

You should be able to solve it from here.  Combine terms and solve for w, then use the expression for L to find length.
