What is the difference between "nabi" and "rasul"?

In English, we use the word *prophet*, but in Quran two different names are used for prophets: *rasul* and *nabi*.What is the difference between *rasul* and *nabi*?

First of all I want to thank you for this good question.

Second of all, the Arabic language is very broad and it contains a lot of words with same and close meanings,

so the word "نبي" indicates for a person who's " يتنبأ" means predict, which is the person can could know the future. While the word "رسول" means a person who has a message from God to the people, so he's a messenger.

Finally, you have to know that in Arabic there's a lot of meanings and vocabularies, which not exist in English.

The word نبي Nabi means a person who prohicy the future. While رسول Rasul means a messenger.
