Question

During the summer, Cecile read twice as many books as Kami. Laura read three times as many books as Kami. Gigi read the same number of books as Cecile, Laura, and Kami combined. If Gigi read 30 books, how many books did each girl read?

k = number of books Kami read

3k = number of books Laura read

2k = number of books Cecile read

Gigi read k + 3k + 2k, or

30 = k + 3k + 2k

30 = 6k

5 = k
