What industries use statistics?

The answer: every industry in the world. Statistics is not limited to complicated charts and tables. Even a simple small business uses statistics, i.e. demographic information, busiest times of days for customers, what price point results in the most sales. Although it seems like this is just basic 'business data', it's actually a form of statistics. Any industry you name has statistics:

1. Show Business: what percentage of movie-going males go to a film's new release on opening night?
2. Sports: what is the batting average of the top 10 MLB players?
3. Law: what is the typical profile of the average criminal?

To me, this is all statistical data. I just checked Siri, and the definition provided for statistics is:

the practice of science of collecting and analyzing numerical data in large quantities, especially for the purpose of inferring proportions in a whole from those in a representative sample.

It's all data. Go gather information that will help you make decisions about a large group of people using data from a smaller group of people. To me, that's statistics, and EVERYONE uses it, even regular people in everyday life.
