Use a Fraction Buster by multiplying both sides by 2....

4y = 2y + 18....

Combine Like-Terms by subtracting 2y from both sides

2y = 18

Isolate the y be dividing both sides by 2

y = 9........check the answer by plugging it back into the original equation....

4(9)/2 = (9) + 9

2(9) = 18

18 = 18 yes.... 9 is the correct answer

4y+5=2(y+9)

4y+5=2y+18

2y=13

y=13/2
