So, Cate, this is a proportion problem.  If 3 of the 14 bass caught have tags, then 24 out of the total should have tags.  Make sense?

 

We set up our proportion.  3/14 = 24/x

 

Cross multiply 3x = 336, so x = 112 bass in the lake.
