You want to "solve for m", which means get the m by itself on one side of the equation and everything else on the other side.  First subtract 11 from both sides of the equation:

 

2 - 11 = 11 - 11 + 3(m+3)

-9 = 3(m+3)

 

Now divide both sides of the equation by 3:

 

-9/3 = 3(m+3)/3

-3 = m+3

 

Now subtract 3 from both sides:

 

-3 - 3 = m + 3 - 3

-6 = m

 

and we're done!
