Caleb has five stores. What fractional part of an order of flour will the five stores receive equally if 7/8 of an order of the original order is shipped?

For this problem we would take 7/8 and divide it by 5.

To do so, we take the reciprocal of 5 and multiply it by 7/8.

When 5 is written as a fraction it is 5/1, so the reciprocal will be 1/5.

7/8 * 1/5 = 7/40

This is because when multiplying fractions, we multiply the numerators (the numbers on top) by each other, and then we multiply the denominators (the numbers on bottom) by each other. When working out the problem, it can be written like this:

7*1/8*5

Thus, each of the five stores will receive 7/40 of an order of flour.
