Hi Sarah, I hope you mean how many balloons are needed, how many gallons are needed. If you are, the answer is 25 balloons are needed.
Figure it this way:
Cut the 8 foot length into 2 four 4 foot sections. This gives a total of four 4 foot sections.
Each 4 foot section is 48 inches in length.
Let x a point where a balloon is placed and E represent the end of a four foot section, Then in each section there are 5 balloons.
E-----x-----x-----x-----x-----x-----E
We have 4 sections, which would need 4 * 5, or 20 balloons.
We know there is 1 balloon at each of the four corners, and you need to add one more where the 2 four foot sections meet in the divided 8 foot section, for a total of 5 more balloons.
The eight foot section would look like:
E-----x-----x-----x-----x-----x-----E-----x-----x-----x-----x-----E
This gives a total of 25 balloons.
