Next, have to understand what our length and width are. We know the length is longer, so let's classify the Width = x. This means the Length = x + 4. This is because the length is "4 inches longer."
Now, we just plug it in.
24 = (x) + (x) + (x+4) + (x+4)
24 = 4x + 8
16 = 4x
4 = x
So, our width is 4 inches and our length is 8 inches.
