y = 225.50x + 5495

y = 175.25x + 6500

225.50x + 5495 = 175.25x + 6500

50.25x = 1005

x = 20 tons (the amount of freight in tons at which both companies charge the same.)

225.50(20) + 5495 = 10,005 ( cost when both are equal.)
