2x + y = 25

3x - y = 20

Adding the two equations,

5x = 45

x = 9

substitute into the first equation

2*9 + y = 25

18 + y = 25

y = 7

As a check, 3 * 9 - 7 = 27 - 7 = 20 It checks.
