b2 is b times b and b3 is b times b times b. Put them together and you get the answer

William W.
An exponent tells you how many times you multiply the base number. For b^2, it means you multiply “b” by itself twice - so that’s b times b. For b^3, it means you multiply “b” 3 times - so that’s b times b times b. If you then multiply b^2 and b^3 you would get b times b times b times b times b or you could write it (b)(b)(b)(b)(b).
