need help solving each side of the square picture below i cant draw it:

The perimeter is just the total distance around the quadrilateral, so just add up the length of the sides.  The perimeter is given as 44 cm and the four sides are given in terms of x:

 

Perimeter = 44 cm = (x+8) + (x+4) + (x²-2x) + (2x-3)

 

44 = x² + 2x + 9

 

0 = x² + 2x - 35

 

Factors to:

 

0 = (x+7)(x-5)

 

So x = -7 and 5.  Since we can't have a negative length, x = 5.
