It depends on how many points there are to date.

If there were a total of 100 points total so far and you had 89 points, that would have 89%. If you got 0 out of 30 on the next assignment, you would still have 89 points but the total would now be 130 so your percentage would be 89/130 or 68%.

If there were 1000 points total so far and you had 890 of those points, that would still be 89%. If you got 0 out of 30 on the next assignment, you would still have 890 points but the total would now be 1030 so your percentage would be 890/1030 or 86%.
