Consecutive integers

The smaller of two consecutive integers is 12 less than twice the greater. What are the integers?

Answer 1

2x-12=y while x=y+1

then 2y+2-12=y

then 2y-y=12-2

then y=10 & x=11

Answer 2

Jerry, if we let x = the first integer, then the 2nd is x + 1, right?

 

x = 2(x+1) - 12

 

I think you can solve for x from here and figure out the 2nd integer!
