How can I help?
When multiplying two binomials, distribute the terms from the left binomial with the right binomial. In class, your teacher probably used the acronym FOIL which is just a tool to help you remember how to do just that.
Multiply the First term in each binomial.
4y times y is 4y2.
Multiply the Outter-most terms of each binomial.
4y times 6 is 24y
Multiply the Innermost terms of each binomial. Look to the middle.
1 times y is 1y.
Multiply the Last term in each binomial.
1 times 6 is 6.
String them together.
4y2 + 24y + 1y + 6
Combine like terms in the middle and it is complete.
4y2 + 25y + 6
