To show this in a mathematical equation, we start with the money she had, and the known amount that she spent, and we solve that to see how much money is left. $75 - 39 = 36. So we now know that the three t-shirts cost a total of $36. But we also know that each of the 3 shirts cost the same price, so we divide 36 by 3: 36 / 3 = 12 Ah ha! Each shirt cost $12!
