Consider the point P=(4,-1) and the line L, given by the equation y=2x+3.

A) Write an equation in slope intercept of the line passing through P and parallel to line L

B) write an equation in slope intercept of the line passing through P and perpendicular to line L.

A line parallel to a given line has the same slope as the given line.

The slope of a line perpendicular to a given line has slope = negative reciprocal of the given line.

The parallel line is:2=(y+1)/(x-4) and in slope-intercept form this is: y=2x-5.
