A rectangular field is seven times as long as it is wide. If the perimeter of the field is 1440 feet, what are the dimensions of the field?
L = 630
W = 90
For a rectangle, Perimeter = 2 * Width + 2 * Length
P = 2W + 2L
L = 7W
P = 2W + 2(7W)
1440 = 2W + 14W
1440 = 16W
Divide both sides by 16
1440/16 = W
90 = W
630 = 7W
Checking,
1440 = 2(90) + 2(630)
1440 = 180 + 1260
1440 = 1440
