Percentile rank takes the top score in the class and makes it "the new 100 %"
So in this case, "47 is the new 100."
So to calculate the percentage, you say that 41 out of 47 is equivalent to SOME NUMBER out of 100.
Set it up as a proportion: 41/47 = x/100
47x = 4100; x = 4100 ÷ 47 = 87.23 % (so that's Erin's percentile class ranking)
Or simply divide 41/47, which gives you .8723, and just remember to express that as a percentage: 87.23%
