First off, there is a flat fee of $8 per month that we have to pay no matter what, and then we get charged $0.17 for each text message we send.
So what would be the cost if we sent 1 text message? It would be $8.17. How did we get that answer? We took the $8 flat fee and added the product of how much a text cost ($0.17) times the number of texts we sent (in this case we sent 1 text).
What would be the cost if we sent 2 text messages? It would be $8.34. How did we get that answer? Again, we took the $8 flat fee and added the product of how much a text cost ($0.17) times the number of texts we sent (in this case we sent 2 texts).
So what if instead of 1 text or 2 texts, we sent "x" texts, what would the cost equation look like then? If you can answer this question, then you will have your answer to the problem! Good luck!
