Let M = Amount Morgan earns each week.
M + 5 = Amount Alana earns each week.
M + (M + 5) is the total amount Alana and Morgan earn
each week.
M + (M + 5) = 365
2M + 5 = 365 (combining M's)
2M = 360 (subtracting 5 from both sides)
M = 180 (dividing both sides by 2)
Therefore, Morgan earns $180 per week.
Since Alana earns $5 a week more than Morgan,
then Alana earns $180 + $5 = $185 per week.
CHECKING:
Does M + (M + 5) = $365?
M + (M + 5) = 180 + (180 + 5) = 180 + 185 = 365
