PQRS is a rectangle. When the length and breadth of the rectangle increase, the rectangle is enlarged to VWRT and area of the rectangle is increased by 226cm2. If the length of the rectangle PQRS is twice its breadth, find the perimeter of rectangle PQRS.

Let L = length of PQRS, W = width of PQRS, and A = area of PQRS.

 

L = 2W

 

A = LW = 2W²

 

 

Let A' = area of VWRT

 

L' = L + l for the length larger than the original length.

 

W' = W + w for the width larger than the original width.

 

 

A' = L'W' = (L + l)(W + w) = LW + Lw + Wl + lw = A + 226
