Our Key Club is going to make the world's largest cinnamon roll. The regular recipe calls for 1/2 tsp for each batch. A regular batch makes 8 rolls and each roll weighs 5 ounces. The world's record roll will weigh 3 tons. How many tablespoons of cinnamon do we need?

Well, this is one large (and tasty) proportions problem.  One batch of cinnamon rolls weighs 8*5 = 40 ounces.  3 tons is (3 tons)*(2000 lbs per ton)*(16 ounces per lbs) = 96,000 ounces!

 

 1/2 tsp               x tsp

-------------  =  ---------------

  40 oz.             96,000 oz.

 

Cross multiply:

 

(1/2)*(96,000) = 40x

 

48,000/40 = x

 

1200 tsp = x
