Hi Alicia! Look at what you know in the problem:
- You have 26' of fence to go AROUND the dog park -- or your PERIMETER is 26'.
- Your park needs to be a rectangle--- so you have two longer sides of equal length and two shorter sides of equal length.
L + L + W + W = P or 2L + 2W = P
You also need to fit the 3' boards in the park, so none of your sides can be smaller than 3'.
What if you choose a width of 4'...for a perimeter of 26' 2L + 2 (4') = 26'...then how big is your length?
Your area A = L x W
Once you have this design done, then choose another option.
