Whenever you see the word "of" in a math problem it usually means that you need to multiply. Example: 5% of 20 is the same thing as 5% X 20. Also, when you are dealing with percent you must make the percent a fraction by dividing by 100. In our example, 5% = 5/100 or 0.05.
Therefore, let x = the overall cost. Our equation now becomes 20% "of" x = 459.80
(20/100)x = 459.80
(1/5)x = 459.80
x = 459.80 X 5
x = 2299.00
So, our answer is £2299.00.
