Point-slope form is (y-y2)=m(x-x2) where x2 and y2 are the coordinates of a point, which in this case is (4,2), and m is the slope. Two lines that are parallel have the same slope. The equation of the line that is parallel to the one we are looking is written in the form y=mx+b, so the slope, m, is -3/4.
Therefore, we have: x2=4
y2=2
m=-3/4
Putting these values into our point-slope form, we get (y-2)=(-3/4)(x-4).
