For y=x, it takes a change in x of 1 for y to change 1.
For y=2x, it only takes a change in x of 1/2 for the same change in y. Thus, it is steeper (or, in math terms, it has a larger slope. Slope is change in y divided by change in x, so the first line has a slope of 1 and the second a slope of 2.)

y=2x is steeper since for one unit of x you have two units of y. An explanation could be that a vertical line has slope = infinity. Thus, the more the coefficient of x tends to infinity the steeper it is.01/08/19
