√(2) is an Irrational Number because it cannot be represented as a ratio. Irrational Numbers are part of the set of Real Nimbers, not Imaginary Numbers. Imaginary Numbers always include the number i = √(-1). So √(-2) would be an imaginary number as √(-2) = √(-1·2) = √(-1) · √(2) = ¡√(2)
