Santa carrot kit

Santa has a carrot kit. He gives Rudolph halftime carrots plus1/2 carrot, he gives Donner half remaining carrots plus 1/2 he gives Blitzen half remaining carrots plus 1/2 and Leaving Santa one carrot which he eats. How many carrots are in the kit?

If Santa got 1 carrot, then he had 2 when he gave 1/2 to Bitzen. Going backwards, he had 4 when get gave half to Donner and 8 when he gave half to Rudolf.

Going forwards, if he starts with 8, half (4) go to Rudolph, leaving him 4. He then gives half to Donner (2), leaving him 2. He then gives half (1) to Blitzen, leaving him 1.
